SmileTRU is a transparent sequential positioner system that goes far beyond conventional braces in comfort and convenience for both the patient and the practitioner.
At SmileTRU we know there are many choices for clear positioners on the market…That is why we decided to create a product that is not just another choice, but an entire program that allows the practitioner to work with the patient regardless of the extent of their malocclusion.
From the most inexperienced to the advanced professional SmileTRU and the complete SmileTRU program is designed to grow as your practice grows. We encourage you to call or email for a complete information kit, or attend one of the informative SmileTRU certification courses currently underway.
SmileTRU is manufactured under exacting specifications using the very latest in digital production methods and additive layer manufacturing devices (3D printers). SmileTRU features the added advantage of various levels of implementation depending on the types of imbalances present. The SmileTRU system allows the practitioner to treat more patients with transparent positioners.
Each positioner is capable of moving a tooth up to .3mm and up to 2 degrees in angulation and/or torque. The space required to obtain the desired position of the teeth may be obtained by interproximal stripping (IPR), or by pre-treating the case with arch developing appliances such as the ALF appliance or the RN-Sagittal appliance.
The clinician has the option of requesting the positioners to be fabricated on a three month basis, or to fabricate the entire set of positioners required to completely treat the case. The three month option allows the clinician to assess the progress of the treatment. If “In Treatment Adjustments” are required, they can be easily made by taking new impressions saving both the clinician and the patient time and money.
If the three month fabrication option is selected, we will automatically construct the next three months of sequential tooth positioners unless the clinician contacts the laboratory requesting an “In Treatment Adjustment”. If an “In Treatment Adjustment” is required the patient should continue to wear the last set of correctly fitting positioners as retainers.
Most cases are treated by changing the sequential tooth positioners every 14 days. We will provide the clinician with the approximate number of sequential tooth positioners required to treat the individual case.
Some patient’s teeth can not be correctly positioned until the size of the dental arches are developed. This type of malocclusion can be pretreated with orthopedic appliances that can not be seen and to not interfere with speech.
This is an example of a patient treated with SmileTRU appliances. This type of malocclusion is usually corrected in eight to twelve months. Some cases may require a minor amount of stripping (IPR) between the teeth to create adequate space to properly position the teeth
SmileTRU & Conventional Braces
Some patients have a malocclusion that is best treated with Smile TRU on the upper teeth and conventional braces on the lower teeth that are not visible on most patients. Many times this combination therapy can speed the treatment time and reduce the amount of stripping (IPR) required to properly position the teeth.
How does it work?
Each positioner is designed to fit over the teeth and apply gentle forces to gradually move the teeth. The positioners are worn until they feel passive, usually around 14 days, you then move onto the next positioner that has further movements built in. This step by step approach ensures that you are only applying gentle forces to the teeth which is both good orthodontic practice and minimises any discomfort when wearing the positioner.
Benefits of SmileTRU
Adults are increasingly seeking a confident smile yet are not always willing to wear wire and brackets. As SmileTRU is virtually invisible when worn, adults can have their teeth straightened without anyone else knowing. The positioners are also removable for eating, public speaking or that Friday night date. Clear positioners offer minimal discomfort and impact on your daily routine compared with other Orthodontic treatment.
There are limitations to the amount and type of movements that can be achieved with clear positioners alone. Some teeth may require attachments (link to attachment section on website) to assist with the movements. Gaining the required space to move the teeth can be done with IPR (Inter Proximal Reduction) or by developing the arch with an appliance such as the A.L.F. (Advanced Light Wire Functional) before going into clear positioners. Extraction cases are not best treated with clear positioners or cases where large amounts of torque or rotations of the canines, pre-molars or molars are required. Also be aware of any T.M.J. dysfunctions, active periodontal disease, severe alveolar bone loss or ankylosed teeth. But don’t worry, our specialist orthodontist and technicians are there to help guide you with which cases are suitable, and too offer alternative methods of treatment. You will not be on your own, we are there to help and guide you through the treatment.
What the patients say
“I can’t believe how I could have Orthodontic treatment and my friends didn’t even know, well until I showed them my positioners. Traditional orthodontics were out due to my high profile job, so this suited me perfectly. You can’t stop me smiling now”

“ The SmileTRU system provides the most precise tooth movement of any clear aligner System I have used. It also accomplishes vertical changes and can burn anchorage over significant distances. We get the orthopedic and orthodontic results we are envisioning with Smile Tru.”
Dr. Joseph Baba – Wichita Kansas
“I have been using SmileTRU for the last 16 months and I am continue to be amazed by how well it works. Triple O Lab has worked closely with me, allowing me to have my input on how I want to approach the case. My patients are not just a number!!
What is really great is that the system has 3 levels that allow you to adjust the case for anything from a simple anterior only realignment, to the more complex Level 3 Advanced cases. In these complex cases, the use of orthopaedic appliances, such as the RN Sagittal and the ALF, allows me to pretreat the patient to achieve the desired arch form. SmileTRU is the perfect finishing piece to achieve the alignment we need.
Patient acceptance and comfort have been an important part to this as well.”
Scott C. Goldstein, DDS
“After using many different aligner systems over the last 8 years I am more than happy to endorse SmileTRU as an excellent aligner system.
Dr. Skip Truitt’s vast knowledge of orthodontics combined with the excellent technical ability of the team at Triple O Dental Labs makes this combination a winner, but for me it’s knowing that any query can be answered within minutes of lifting the phone.
The friendly and experienced staff make the whole journey easier.
The SmileTRU system is a great way to introduce orthodontics into your practice.”

THERE ARE 4 LEVELS OF SmileTRU CASES:
- Level 1 – Reset of Anterior Teeth Only
(6 usually trays per arch. Cosmetic alignment with-out disturbing the posterior occlusion)
- Level 2 – Reset of Premolar to Premolar Only
(12 usually trays per arch)
- Level 3 – Reset Full Maxillary and Mandibular Arch
(18 usually trays per arch)
- Level 4 – PreTreatment Appliances (ex. ALF/RN Sagital) then Reset Full Maxillary and Mandibular Arch
(18 usually trays per arch)
The clinician has the option of requesting SmileTRU to fabricate the positioners on a three month basis, or to fabricate the entire set of positioners required to completely treat the case. The three month option allows the clinician to assess the progress of the treatment. If an “In Treatment Adjustment” is required the patient should continue to wear the last set of correctly fitting positioners as retainers. This same technique can be employed if the clinician wishes to use additional positioners for final “Aesthetic Detailing”.
Most cases are treated by changing the sequential tooth positioners every 14 days. SmileTRU will provide the clinician with the approximate number of sequential tooth positioners required to treat the individual case.
